The Ultimate Workout, a Kick-Ass Party

The Men’s Health and Women's Health Beach Boot Camp is, quite simply, the best fitness experience you’ll ever have.

No, it’s not a race. It’s an all-new way of challenging your body—and have a great time doing it. But unlike other events, you won’t just walk away sweaty, tired, and sore. You’ll leave smarter. We’ll introduce you to exercises you’ve never done, equipment you’ve never tried, and workouts that you’ve never dreamed of! We’ve literally brought the pages of our magazines to life in the most fun venue on the planet: the beach. That’s right: Fit men and women in swimsuits—abs rippling, butts glistening—getting fitter by the second.

The two-day event will take place Aug. 18-19, 2012, in Long Beach, N.Y.

REGISTRATION OPENS TUESDAY, MAY 15!

Come back to MensHealth.com/bootcamp then, or email us at bootcamp-feedback@Rodale.com, and we’ll alert you when you can sign up!

Day 1 starts with a grueling and exhilarating 12-station, 90-minute workout on the beach: We call it The Gauntlet. It combines the latest metabolic-training methods along with the coolest equipment. You’ll learn how to use battling ropes, kettlebells, medicine balls, TRX, and even sandbags to get an unbelievable workout.

Day 2 features The Beach Battle, a unique fitness competition that will crown the King and Queen of the Beach! You’ll tackle a 5-station course that’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Think of it as part Survivor, part World’s Strongest Man competition. The top male and female will each win $2,500. Bragging rights will be awarded to the winners in various age-group categories. Are you tough enough? Prove it.

You can sign up for either day—or both. Our guarantee: You’ll get the best workout of your life, while having the time of your life! Don’t miss this first-of-its-kind event. It’ll change the way you look at fitness forever.

Flying Saucer To Hold Plate Reunion Party

AppId is over the quota

Welcome to blogs.dallasobserver.com

Thumbnail image for flyingsaucer_thumb.jpgWhen the Flying Saucer announced its recent move to 111 East Third St. in Forth Worth, the manager was a little cryptic about what would happen to all the plates that lined the walls of the original location.

Customers who sign up to join the U.F.O. club (and pay an $18 fee) can drink their way into the ring of honor. The distinction earns "beer knurds" a plate emblazoned with their names that hung on the walls of the the old location. The ritual was popular enough to fill many of the walls. but those plates did not join the beer-swillers at the new location. Next Thursday the estranged plates will be reunited with their rightful owners, and the Flying Saucer is throwing a party to mark the occasion.

True to Flying Saucer form, some proceeds from the party will benefit the Tarrant Area Food Bank. They're holding a silent auction to raise money for the organization they've supported with canned food drives and other events in the past. If you've had a plate with your name on it at the old location it's time to realize your destiny. The party starts at 6 p.m. August 16.

The New Torchy's Location Is Having a Grand Opening Party. Wanna Go? (Updated)

AppId is over the quota

Welcome to blogs.dallasobserver.com

TorchysTacosTaco.jpgUpdate:We used a random number generator to pick a winner and drew comment number one. KrisinDallas, may your future be filled with many tacos and drinks.

We told you back in February about Torchy's Tacos opening up another location near the SMU campus, and as the opening date gets closer there's some more news coming out of the Austin based taco chain, involving booze. The latest Torchy's, which will share space with a second Nodding Donkey and a World of Beer location in the BLVD residential development, will not have just bottled beer for sale but a full bar too.

Other than cocktails, the new Torchy's will otherwise mimic the same model that's made the chain popular this far, says a spokesperson for the company. They're hitting the booze hard, though, with draft and bottled beer and frozen margaritas in the popular college flavors of lime, strawberry and mango. There's even a full line of cocktails in the works, some of which are infused with spicy spirits.

The grand opening party is August 15, and they're planning on giving out a ton of free tacos and beverages to anyone with a pass. That's the real reason for this blog post. I have two of them to give away a commenter who can tell us why they deserve them. Time's up at 4 p.m., so get that bragging/rationalizing/begging go, and be sure to send me or leave an email address in the comments.
